The Man Behind the Music

Lil Wayne, as his fans know him, was born as Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. on September 27, 1982 in New Orleans. An intelligent young man, Dwayne was part of the gifted program at Lafayette Elementary School. When he entered secondary school, he was an active part of the drama club. However, even as a young boy, rap was his passion.

His first rap was written at just eight years old. When he was 11, Lil Wayne met Bryan Williams, successful rapper and the owner of Cash Money Records. He impressed the man by recording freestyle raps on his answering machine, and soon young Dwayne was being included in songs distributed by the recording studio. Dwayne dropped out of school at age 14 to pursue his musical passion, but he continued to pursue his education, earning his GED and enrolling in the University of Houston where he majored first in political science and then in psychology. Due to his popularity, he takes classes online.

Lil Wayne got his music debut with the group he formed known as Hot Boys in 1997. The group was responsible for Guerrilla Warfare, a label that reached the number one slot in Billboard magazine for Hip-Hop Albums. At age 17, Lil Wayne released his first solo album, Tha Block Is Hot, and it went double platinum, bringing several awards to the young artist. This paved the way for a successful career that included popular raps like “Get off the Corner,” “Go DJ,” and “Fireman.” While rap is Lil Wayne’s main style, he has released several mixtapes, including Dedication and Drama, which have established him as a freestyle rapper. His latest album is a rock album entitled Rebirth, which is scheduled for release in June of 2009.

Keyboard Practice: How Online Keyboard Courses Helps You Improve

by Bryan Smith

Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced keyboard player, online keyboard courses can help you with your keyboard practice by taking you to a different level. Even though a lot of traditionalists still prefer to be taught by offline teachers, which is fine and certainly effective for some, online keyboard courses are viewed as an accelerated path for those who wants to improve through the new methods of teaching and how these courses constantly leverage off the power of community.

Fresh teaching approach

Many of the online keyboard courses introduce keyboard practice methods that have never been seen before. For example, some products include games that are created to improve your familiarity with notes and chords, which are very well-received by customers.

This fresh approach to teaching is made possible by the fact that online keyboard courses do not have the hardware restrictions that many keyboard teachers have when conducting lessons physically, so creators of the course actually have more flexibility to introduce new methods that help to generate higher levels of interest in learning.

Power of the community

Many online courses do not simply provide the materials to aid keyboard practice, but they create members-only platform for their customers to interact actively. Given that existing customers have access to the same materials, seeking help on learning difficulties and the provision of peer guidance are just some of the regular exchanges in the forums. This form of communication add values to the customers as it allows like-minded members a place to engage actively with individuals who are all learning and practicing for a similar goal.

I often come across people with the common misconception that keyboard courses are for beginners only, this is totally not true. Given that these courses are sold and delivered over the internet at minimal costs, most course creators can afford to pack many different materials and compile really extensive bundles that are suitable for players across all levels.

However, do your homework and make sure that you are actually purchasing the right course to help with your keyboard practice as some courses are made for specific niches. For example, there are many courses that are made exclusively for complete beginners, and that will not suit someone with some form of playing experience.

Small Classes Are Best For Students

by Sarah Wilkiamson

Dance schools with small classes are better for your child. This is because with larger classes a young student can easily get overwhelmed. More individual teaching can make all the difference.

A good rapport with the teacher is essential for your child to be successful in dancing. Young children need to have a good relationship with their teachers in order to learn anything, but it is especially important when it comes to dance lessons. If your child does not like their teacher they simply will not learn and worse still will get discouraged. When this happens they may very likely give up on dancing and miss a wonderful opportunity to learn a special art.

Everyone, especially young children, learn at a different speed and in different ways, too. Some children may have difficulty with a particular skill or dance routine, whereas others will learn it easily. Kids having trouble learning the skill then need a little extra help and this is difficult to facilitate if there are large numbers of students in the class and only one teacher to support them. Time restraints often mean a few must miss out so that the class can progress on time.

Sometimes a student can show special gifts when it comes to dancing. A smaller class will allow the teacher to give some extra time to those with potential. This means that if your child is one of these students they can be encouraged to progress and not be held back. In this way they will not become bored and discouraged, because they are being held back. Dance is a very creative art and it is a shame to waste potential.

A smaller class will enable your child to get on better with their classmates. A smaller class is much more congenial for your child. They will be able to meet the other students and talk to them. It is easier to make friends in a smaller class and your child will enjoy their dance lessons more. When they enjoy the classes more they will learn faster.

There will be a better atmosphere when the classes are small. Large impersonal classes are somewhat intimidating to a young student, as they are used to a family atmosphere where everyone knows each other really well. If the class is more like a “home away from home” the kids will feel more relaxed and find learning so much easier than if they were to be crammed into a huge class and have to compete for attention when they need it.

Dancing should be an experience that your child cherishes for the rest of their life and an opportunity to develop friendships that last a lifetime. For this reason it’s very important to spend the time choosing the right school that has your children in mind and not just the payment you make to them at the end of each month or semester. Find a school with quality teachers that is proud of its results and happy to show case them.

How Can I Make Cards From Odds & Ends?…

by Anna Meenaghan

One way or another it is always a pleasure to receive cards. So I got around to thinking of all the types of cards there actually are. Why not try doing cards for different occasions? Particularly when we often have items lying around at home we could use for this!

To give you an example, fancy paper, tissue, string, ribbons, stones, sequins, scraps of materials, why not incorporate them.

As a change, I am about to explain how to do a menu card. This could be a very useful addition for a special bash like a wedding, dinner party, golden wedding anniversary or for any big party. You will require some thin card, about 24 x 21cm. Choose one that has a nice texture. Then you need to fold this in half.

Make a line for the fold with probably a craft knife. Now you could do with a line at the top and the bottom of your card. This could be made with a couple of strips of ribbon, braid or coloured paper, about 12 x 2cm ,which can be glued to the card. Of course, you will need the correct glue for this.

These strips can be the same shade, toning or very different colours, depending on the occasion. At this stage you could add a narrow strip of gold paint just above the edge of your strips.

Supposing this is for a silver wedding, I would most likely use a picture of the couple involved. Add it to the centre and then highlight this by adding a silver circle around it. Underneath my bottom trip I would put an item which, in fact, denotes each five years up to their silver wedding.

Then, on the top line, you could have your wording. On the other hand if, say it was a young couple, you could basically take the same idea, but enclose the photo in a heart shape and along the bottom of your card affix little jewels, which are heart shaped. Sticking a few bits of confetti around the outside of the big heart.

You will need your menu now on a thin piece of paper. This can be hand written with a gel pen or printed, you have the choice. This needs attaching to the card, or, you could just write on the inside of the card.

However, it might be you just want to make place cards, and really, the cost of these soon adds up if you buy these in the shops. I would attempt this in the same way. Using roughly 8cm of card, score it lightly down the centre and then fold it.

Take a narrow ribbon across the width of your card, allow extra on the sides, about 1 cm from the top of the card. Now glue it in place and chop the ends off when this is dry.

You will need some heads of little flower buds to stick in the centre of your ribbon. Cut off any stems, or you could make your own from tissue paper and add a small bead to the centre. To finish it, write the name on with a gel pen.

Keyboard Teacher: Why You Do Not Need One with an Online Keyboard Course

by Bryan Smith

While this is a bold statement to make, but keyboard teacher can sometimes bring about more harm than good for the students. For example, I have met a keyboard teacher who chose not to evolve at all, so he teaches with the old methods passed down by his own teachers, and this result in boring and repetitive syllabus, and eventually, causes his students to lose motivation because of their slow progresses.

Learning should be multi-dimensional and involve a certain level of independence. Learning independently from the beginning is useful for anyone looking to learn the keyboard as it is something which you ultimately need to improve on your own. Online keyboard courses, do have many advantages over offline teachers, and in this article, we will explore the 2 biggest benefits.

Cost

One of the main benefits of buying an online keyboard course is because of its great affordability compared to hiring a private keyboard teacher. This is the primary factor that people consider to decide on giving online keyboard courses a try. Since private keyboard teacher usually charges by the hour, and if you do not have a big enough budget, you compromise on your lesson time and progress.

Just consider this simple scenario of learning 100 hours of keyboard lessons from a keyboard teacher that charges you $100 an hour, this will amount to $10,000 for you in a year, and compare that amount to buying the online course, which is designed for hundreds of lesson and practice time, for $50. The choice of going with online courses is obviously much more attractive monetarily.

Freedom

With all the materials in your hands right from the start, you have complete learning freedom with the online course. You get to decide how much time you can afford to spend on learning the keyboard, and you plan and track your own progress as well. To get the most out of learning keyboard, you should have the freedom of accessing materials to learn and practice whenever you feel like, instead of having to do so at fixed times.

If you are thinking of hiring an offline keyboard teacher, I urge you to seriously reconsider the necessity of it. An online course can provide all the education that you need along with the best possible convenience, so use it to cultivate a habit of independent learning instead of relying on the help of an actual teacher.

Give Your Child Piano Lessons on the Internet

by Bryan Smith

Giving your child piano lessons is a great gift. Piano lessons give will give your child a solid background in music right from the beginning. Your child will have this for the rest of his life, and will be very thankful for it.

A child’s music appreciation will be based on his music lessons in the early years. Your child will have his piano skills for the rest of his life, and much like riding a bicycle, will never lose them. If he decides to stop taking lessons, or take a break from them, he can return to the piano at an older age much more easily. Also, his love of music will develop more because of his early lessons.

Piano lessons for a child that is overly shy and lacking self-confidence can help him overcome these issues. When you give your child piano lessons there is no doubt that his confidence level will rise and he will become less shy.

The more a child becomes better at any skill, the more confident he will feel in himself and his abilities. It is always important to give a child a great start for the future, and giving him a skill at the piano will help him in so many ways.

The child will be exercising his memory every time he sits down to play a song. Even if he is site reading, you’ll notice that there are parts that he will pick up and play by memory only. His memory will be stimulated and will grow as a result of playing the piano, and if you offer him fun lessons he will return to the piano and do his practicing willingly.

Playing the piano involves a high amount of concentration, and the child that practices the piano has to use the power of concentration to make the music sound good. It is a very positive concentration exercise for the child, and you will notice that he is able to focus more in other areas of his life.

Learning piano skills is very good for any child, but they are actually learning much more than just the ability to play the piano. They are developing good habits that will be reflected in many other areas of their life. It is also very possible that they will do better at school as a result of the piano lessons.

If you have a younger child you may have to help him out with his piano lessons, but if your child is around the age of twelve he is usually able to handle most of it on his own. An older child can even take online piano lessons and be able to follow them very easily.

He can learn on his own, and in many cases giving your child piano lessons on the Internet is the only option for parents nowadays due to the high cost of private lessons.
