Garmin Streetpilot 2820 Review

by Sean McPhearson

For someone wanting a feature packed GPS system, the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 has nearly everything. Motorcycle riders especially love this unit because they can use it to basically get anywhere and even control it with their gloves on without a hitch!

The features of the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 are more than I can list in this short review, so I’ll just hit a few key-points. One of the most important aspects of a GPS unit is the screen size. While some people prefer tiny, dinky, portable things, the StreetPilot 2820 offers something that really works-a big screen! This touch-screen-enabled GPS unit is capable of handling bright sunlight without a hitch. Because of the touch-screen function, it’s also exceedingly easy to use as well.

The Garmin Streetpilot 2820 comes preloaded with streetmaps of North America as well as millions of points of interest (POI’s) like restaurants, gas stations, banks, hotels, grocery stores, and area attractions. Because it’s preloaded right out of the box, you won’t have to hassle with trying to get stuff loaded on there so you can use it the first time. Simply turn it on and head out!

It’s got a great feature in its XM radio and MP3 player functions. If you are subscribed to an XM radio provider, you can load up your favorite tunes on the MP3 player and switch between the XM radio and MP3 player for variety or if the terrain ends up blocking the radio signals (i.e. mountain biking). You also might enjoy listening to audiobooks with the 2820’s neat audiobook function. You simply would buy some books off of audible.com and add that to your MP3 collection.

If you are listing to the MP3 or radio, you can set a mode so that if it has directions to tell you it will sound a tone so you can hit the “speak” button. This helps so that you don’t have to hear things you don’t want to hear.

Some people find that the StreetPilot 2820 works better on a motorcycle than the Quest. The Quest seems to be harder to use while actually traveling. The 2820 allows for easier changes while flying down the road.

The 2820 has a Bluetooth feature that is pretty handy. It has a speaker and microphone that works with Bluetooth compatible phones to allow you to make calls hands-free. If you’re using it on your motorcycle, it’s pretty neat because you can connect both your Bluetooth compatible phone, and the 2820 to your helmet or headset so you can hold a conversation and receive navigational directions at the same time.

The Garmin StreetPilot 2820 may be more expensive than some other models, but it’s so feature packed that it’ll last you a whole lot longer than other GPS units with lesser functionality. In fact, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it!

iBiza History

by iBiza Joe

We have evidence that settlements on iBiza date back over 3000 years. In 654 BC the Carthaginians discovered the island and founded iBiza town making it one of the earliest towns in Europe.

The Carthaginians were merchants and they used iBiza as a trading hub. It had a large harbor and they built strong city walls. The mainly traded salt made in salt pans in Salinas. You can still see them today and the process of making salt by evaporation largely remains unchanged.

The Carthaginians also used iBiza to bury there dead. It’s thought they chose the island as there were no wild animals to dig up the corpses.

The Romans came next they conquered iBiza in 123 BC. They built a bridge over the river in Santa Eulalia which you can still see today - although the river is long gone.

Between the 5th and the 9th Century the iBiza was invaded by the Vandals, the Barbarians and the Byzantines.

The Arabs came in the 9th century A.D. and stayed for almost 500 years. The Arabic influence can still be felt strongly today in many customs, such as the construction of the houses, traditional costumes and the island dialect ‘Ibicenco’.

On the 8th of August 1235 The Caralans invaded the island. They built a Cathedral on the spot where they tore down the Arab mosque and everyone had to convert to Christianity. Churches were built and the oldest on the island can be found in Santa Eulalia, San Antonio Sant Jordi and San Miguel.

iBiza has had more than its fair share of invaders and the invasions continue in the form of stag and hen parties in San Antonio every weekend during the summer months. I think I’d prefer the Vandals.

The beautiful golden soft sandy beach in Benidorm is over 3km long, it also has a very attractive promenade with a lot of lovely hotels and a selection of very posh restaurants. Planning Tips for the Family Saves Money

by Rob Carlton

You will want to think about the entire family when it comes to traveling or making any plans. You will want to make sure that you go the extra mile to make the trip seem less of a hassle or stressful, but just loaded with good, wholesome fun. You will also want to consider the fact that there is no reason why you can not bring your children with you, because you can take some of the following trips and make any trip fun-filled and take the whole family.

You will first want to start off with the whole family in mind. Basically, you will want to get the whole family involved in the planning process so everyone can be happy with the trip. You will also find that kids will love getting involved. You will want to make a list of things that each person would like to do, but then learn how to talk it out and compromise so that everyone is happy with the planned trip. You will also want to make it known that not every vacation goes according to plan and talk it out.

Also, you will want to distribute tasks to the family members so that each person has a responsibility and can feel that they are apart of the vacation and important to the family. You will want to have someone make a check-list, check the first-aid kits, prepare the travel snacks, and so on. You will be able to make everyone feel important, and you won’t feel so stressed out before you leave for your destination.

It’s hard to say this is a family, but you need to travel light. This means that you will want to see what you have to bring and what you can rent. You can rent strollers and such, and you can also get plenty of diapers in any of the local grocery stores. Take what you need to get to your destination and then budget for the rest so that you are only bring the important stuff and not worrying about the small stuff.

Before you leave you will want to make sure that you have someone checking in on the house so that it is secure and you don’t come back home to a disaster. You will also want to make sure that you bring things like emergency kits so that you can be safe and plan for anything. You will want to bring any medication that could be needed, even if you don’t use it all the time. You need to have the family prepared for the worst.

The Running and Jumping Tarpon

by Tom Gibson

Like a lot of fight in your fish? Well, the might Tarpon is just the fish for you. We are talking about a monster fish that can come in at over 200 pounds and give you a workout you will not soon forget.

When it comes to the perfect warrior fish, the Tarpon is high on the list. Bigger than a middle linebacker, they measure out as much as 280 pounds and eight feet in length. They also like a good fight, so warm up those shoulders and arms.

The Tarpon seems like it would be some form of shark or monstrosity. In truth, it is actually a member of the herring family. A very big member. They are particularly oily, so only are claimed as a game fish for the most part.

Tarpon are resilient fish. They are one of the few fish that can survive the oxygen depleted zones in the water. They do so by surfacing and breathing directly from the air. It is a very odd site to see, something like a small submarine berthing if it is a big fish.

You can take a Tarpon with both flies and spin casting. Heavy duty tackle is the name of the game, but it really doesn’t matter. You are only in it for the fun of the chase and most Tarpon will spit the bit sooner or later.

The Tarpon is not a picky eater. Bait fish, crab and squid are common bait, but ask the locals in your area what is exciting the Tarpon. In fact, this is a rule you should follow for just about any area.

The real beauty of the Tarpon is it likes to stay close the shoreline. This makes it a great game fish because not only does it have a lot of fight in it, but it has limited room to dive. As a result, it tends to run like a puma and jump out of the water like a kangaroo.

The additional benefit is you, me and anyone can catch them. You can be on the beach, a pier or just about anywhere. I once saw a gent fishing off a surfboard get dragged down the beach a ways with a big smile on his face.

If you are looking for a new experience and like a good fight, the Tarpon is about the best choice possible. It will fight and leave you wiped out, but with a huge smile on your face.

How to market your own range of bath and body products

by Jane L. Church

The term “spa” comes from the Latin expression for “health by water”. While water treatment or “hydrotherapy” is offered by many spas, they also offer massages, hair styling, full body treatments, facials and skin treatments and manicures and pedicures.

Today more than 11 billion dollars is generated each year by the spa industry. Also, reports have shown that more than 136 million visits to various spas in the U.S. occurred just in the year 2007. This makes it one of the top leisure trades in the U.S. today, and as it is made more popular by TV, commercials, movies, and advertising. We can expect continued growth as well.

In order to be a part of this lucrative business, you can either open your own spa, buy an existing day spa business or take part in the manufacturing of essential spa products such as lotions, exfoliating balms, bath salts, candles, sun block, body scrubs and a lot more.

There are a variety of great manuals out there today that can help you make your own spa products for sale. There are even some great recipes out there online that you can try out. Here is one that will help you make a salt scrub:

Purchasing a good salt scrub can cost you about $20 or so, but you can easily make your own at home. All you need is some sea salt, some essential oils, and about a half cup of grape seed oil or even sweet almond oil. In a few minutes you’ll be able to enjoy your own spa experience at home.

You can similarly find very effective and reasonably-priced recipes for footbaths, hand treatments, facials and even shampoo online. You will find that many people who have worked in some of the world’s most famous day and destination spas post recipes on the Internet. This assures you of the reliability and efficacy of the products.

One you have come up with the products you want to sell, then you need to market these products. Using the word “spa” is actually quite powerful in itself. It adds prestige to even products that are quite common. When you see products with the word “spa” in them, many people will be willing to pay a little more, just based on the perceived value alone.

Of course, when you package your spa products, it is important that you have packaging that looks great while making sure it is low cost. Consider going with something simple, such as cellophane for your packaging and then go with custom labels or tags that can be printed professionally and then customized.

Having some friends over to have a spa party is a great way to help market your products as well. You’ll be able to let everyone try the products that you have made. If you’re going to do this, make sure that you set up the entire room in a way that makes it feel just like going into a spa.

Set up some signs that tell about ways to fight dry skin, how lavender heals, benefits of detoxifying the skin and so on. Then turn on some really mellow music and possible have a small fountain running or even a water noise maker.

Now that the stage is set, you can have a great spa party that everyone is going to enjoy. You can offer pedicures and manicures, or even a massage or a facial to those who attend. This will help you introduce your line of products and you’ll also get some great feedback as well.

This Is What You Should Know If you want To Play a Guitar

by Frank Maseko

Do you consider your self a good guitar player? I am not just talking about picking up the guitar and playing a few songs I am talking about real practicing for the environment that you will eventually be playing in which is, of course, in an ensemble with other musicians who we hope will always be better than you. So before you run out, buy a guitar and sign up for lessons, ask yourself if you will dedicate several hours each week to practicing and playing the guitar.

No matter what motivation you may have in your desire to learn how to play the guitar, it will be your guiding light and beam of hope during days when you feel you no longer have the willpower to stay on. When I was starting out playing the guitar, I always wished that I could have known somebody who could already play and could teach me a few things. First of all, you need to have on hand, is a guitar and then hold it on your lap with your left hand holding the neck and the right hand draped over the body of the guitar.

Playing the guitar requires more than the requisite musical ability, dedication and practice. Many people try to learn too many songs, too many tabs, or too many guitar method books all at the same time and suffer from information overload. But you should look through your guitar books or DVD’s and choose one exercise or lesson you want to work on.

One should learn how to play the guitar with some inspiration at the back of his head. And playing good means lots of practice and stretching. But not only should you stretch just before you play the guitar, but also any other time you get the chance.

Do Not Get Discouraged - When first learning the guitar, or any instrument for that matter, you may find yourself getting discouraged, or perhaps saying to yourself “this is just too difficult”. There are still many other guitar players who can serve as deserving idols or role models when it comes to playing the guitar - they may be popular and some may be unknown until now.

Get a metronome - A very important part of guitar playing is the ability to keep good timing. And people who are considered experts in playing the guitar insist that the only distinction that sets a good guitarist apart from a distinguished guitarist is based on how they apply the approach “feel the beat” to their tune using their instrument.

Private Lessons: This is the best way to learn to play the guitar if you can find the right teacher. So instead of giving the guitar player in your life cash to go towards the lessons, you can contact the teacher and pay for the lessons up front, or have them give you a gift certificate. Once you’ve got past the basic guitar lessons in these tutors, you might decide the best way to teach yourself is to play your favorite songs by ear.

I hope I have persuaded you that taking guitar lessons (even online) is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. So don’t think that online guitar instruction is just for the novice, though, because many of the available lessons will teach you, not only the basics, but many advanced techniques as well.

Top Tips For First Time Boat Charter

by iBiza Joe

If you want to make your coastal or island vacation really special then hire a boat. You can make it a real day to remember. If you’ve never considered this before then make sure you consider the following points so that your dream day doesn’t turn to a disaster.

“Bareboat” mean that there’s no crew so if you have chartered bareboat and you can’t sail you aint going anywhere. Not unless you qualify and get the necessary papers yourself. Always check the boat comes with a skipper and crew. The charter company can usually organise you one if it doesn’t. In some countries legally they may not be able to supply you with one.

Fuel is not normally included in the price of a charter. It will be charged to you as an extra at the end of the trip. Something to think about as boat love to guzzle back the diesel.

Take plenty of sun lotion the power of the sun is deceiving at sea and it’s effects are not always noticed until you are back on dry land. The other side to that coin is that you can tan three times the speed at sea.

If you are going to have a swim off the boat it’s a good idea to have a snorkel and goggles. Always check for jelly fish before diving in…and sharks if applicable….they tend to be quite bitey.

When the weather is bad you will be required to wear a life jacket, especially if you can’t swim. It’s advisable for children to wear them all the times. Some boats will not be suitable for really young children. Always take the skippers advice and listen to his safety speech at the start of the journey.

If you are lunching ashore it’s often a good idea to invite the skipper along. he might have some great sea stories to share with you. It’s normal practice to tip the skipper at the end of the trip.

There’s the basics most of all have fun - if it goes well you will have one of the most amazing days of you life!
