Cell Phone Screen Protectors ” Scratch Proofing Your Cell Phone

by John Kalpinion

Cell phone screen protectors are essential to keeping your cell phone clean, protect it from scratches, and give it a longer life span. If you keep your cell phone clean, when you go to sell it after your contract is up, you could get up to 3 times more money for it than you would have if you had not protected it. After all, you pay good money for cell phones these days, so why not make the extra investment to keep it’s value from deteriorating while keeping your cell phone looking shiny and new.

Choose a screen protector that has a lifetime warranty. There is a variety of product in the market that will extend the life of your phone and last a very long time. It is not a good idea to buy protectors that come in bargain packs of 5, 10, even 20; these items are sold as multiples because they will wear out quickly.

There are several types of cell phone screen protectors, from the bulky cases to clear thin film that keep your entire phone protected. The best screen protection products are ones that allow you to use the functionality of your phone. This way, you don’t have to sacrifice the functions of your phone just to keep it clean and in new condition.

For the best results without having to buy numerous protectors, you should invest in a quality screen protector that offers a lifetime warranty. Believe me, there are numerous products out there that do an excellent job in eliminating the necessity of buying more screen protectors because it just wears out over time. If you go to you local department store to find a screen protector, you will likely find packs of 5, 10, and 20. What does this tell you? This tells you that these don’t last very long so you have to keep buying their product! This is not the best decision.

No matter how careful you are with your cell phone, you will always get dings and scratches, it’s an inevitability. With the technology out there today, there is no reason for you to have a cell phone that looks like it has been through a war zone. So use ultralight clear film as they are the best cell phone screen protectors on the market.

The General Thought of Festivals

by Ian Kleine

There is so much to think about festivals. Sometimes you are left to ponder with the things that pertain to festivals. Their necessity, their practicality, like why do they even exist? Of course, you are left to waste at least a few minutes or even hours of your life trying to sort out this conundrum. Why a festival? What are the implications? Is there any special effect if you go into one? Should even indulge in it?

Festivals, in my dark cynical mind, are a waste of time and money. When you take on an I-hate-the-world-and-everyone-is-dumber-than-me; you get that feeling of dis attachment (which is a warning sign for you to go to your nearest shrink and have a session (or possibly four). There is a sense of dislike for any event wherein you are forced to make contact with other people or something close to that.

Another thing you might be worried about is the productivity. Hey, time is gold. And gold equates to money. Now, if you are busy frolicking around the fair area, to have yourself enjoying timetime which should have been done for making money and stuff. If you’re the type of person who thinks just that, you need to loosen up a bit and lighten up.

Seriously, money will always be there. But time is fleeting. Money is concrete. Time is abstract. Between time and money, learn which one will you use for yourself and for your family. If you have one, that is. If you do not, then prioritize and see where your life will take you.

Festivals, for the most part, are made to celebrate the different aspects of life, with what we enjoy about it. Love, life, family and food, these are the things that we know and will come to pass. But memories of a fireworks-filled sky and a carnival of festivals will always endure.

Low rider bikes are an interesting lot

by Alison Addy

In today’s hot and happening world, the custom low rider bicycle has acquired a special status. Everyone seems to dream of possessing this style of bicycle. Are you wondering why this has happened? Well, simply because riding this bicycle is an experience in itself. One feels a great sense of adventure and freedom while riding this bicycle. No wonder it has become almost a fashion statement to own a custom low rider bicycle.

To put the record straight, these bicycles are not a modern invention. In fact, they go as far back as the ‘The Munsters’, a television show from the 60s. The central character Eddie Munster was the initial owner of this style of bicycle and he seems to have owned a Schwinn Stingray and that too a modified version. Even though this style faded away for some time, today it has bounced back and the Eddie style lowered and elongated look for this bicycle has become a ’symbol’ of the new century.

The defining characteristic of these low rider bicycles is style. As a result of the rising demand for these bicycles, you have a lot of options in today’s market. No one wants a low rider bicycle just like the ones owned by the others. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that people seek to express their individuality and personality by designing the low rider bicycles according to their desires.

So it is very common to see customized low rider bikes where experimentation has been done on the upholstery, and you have other special features like sound systems, rims, special whitewall tires etc. Some low rider bicycles have risen to the level of art and they are equipped with neon, murals that are hand painted, and even hydraulics and steering wheels. All of these also escalate the prices of these bicycles and people at times spend thousands of dollars on their customized low rider bicycles.

Passion for these bicycles has risen to the extent that clubs have mushroomed in many places for exchanging ideas about low rider bicycles. Riding and creating different personalized designs seems to be the main thrust of these clubs. All the members help each other in the creation process and customized bicycles that are new are displayed as and when available. Clubs in different areas also organize meetings and have fun showing off their latest bicycles.

If you are new to the low rider bicycle scenario, there is no need for you to worry. You can purchase a low end bicycle for as much as $210. If you are interested in adding other features like rims, tires, murals etc. then the cost could go up by a thousand dollars or so. There is no dearth of manufacturers for custom low rider bicycles. You have plenty of options like manufacturing a bicycle particularly for you or getting a simple low rider and enhancing it with hydraulics or murals or special bicycle parts from an expert.

Little Known Miami Tourist Attraction Weighs 1100 Tons

by Michael Kohler

Located at 28655 S. Dixie Hwy. in a little town called Homestead Florida not 35 miles south of Miami lies one of the strangest and most amazing tourist attractions not only in the state of Florida but in the United States.

The Coral Castle Castle was originally called Rock Gate Park. It was built by one man working by himself for over 20 years. From 1920 until 1940, Edward Leedskalnin, more commonly known in the South Florida area as Ed, dedicated most of his adult life to creating this megalithic wonder.

Edward Leedskalnin came to America after courting the love of his life in the country of Latvia. After being rejected before his wedding day, Ed left his homeland in search of something better. Although some say he was motivated to build the Coral Castle to prove his love to the woman that he had lost, there is more behind the mystery, something that borders on the fringe of reality and fantasy.

Just 24 hours before their betrothal, Ed received the bad news. Agnes no longer wanted to marry Ed. Though he loved her, she could not return his love in the same way. There are many possibilities as to the motivations that led Agnes to no longer want Ed in her life. It could have been his lack of education. It could’ve been his lack of money. Whatever the case, her rejection of him was firm and life-changing.

Whatever the reason was, this was a very life changing event for Ed Leedskalnin. It cost him to pack up and leave his hometown in Latvia and journey across the ocean to Canada to start his new life.

Edward Leedskalnin was also a very hard working individual. After traveling throughout Canada and working in the lumber industry, he descended into the United States going through California and eventually arriving in Texas possibly due to participating in a cattle drive. Unfortunately for Ed, he developed a very bad case of tuberculosis, a disease that during the early 1900s had taken the lives of millions. It was not until 1946 that the antibiotic streptomycin was created and that an effective treatment and cure became possible.

For the many thousands that have seen the Coral Castle, one might think that it was the creation of someone who is well acquainted with engineering and was strong enough to move and manipulate several thousand tons of coral. Edward sadly developed a near fatal case of tuberculosis, an illness that would lead them toward an oncoming destiny.

Ed’s small stature, standing only 5 feet tall and weighing a mere hundred pounds, may have been useful working on cattle drives and in the lumber industry, but it was no match for the tuberculosis that he found himself infected with. After being found near the dead in South Florida by a local realtor, through their kindness he was able to recover completely from this illness, something that was virtually unattainable in the latter stages of this disease. Once he was healthy enough, he purchased a single acre of land near Florida City where he began the construction of his monument to the woman that never loved him.

Armed with the belief that America was the land of extremes came true, and began to build in business for himself. Constructing what has been called a garden of rocks; Ed quarried, lifted, and sculpted domestically shaped pieces of coral directly out of the ground that he purchased. Ed carved out chairs, tables, and even a 30 ton obelisk that stood 40 feet high without using modern machinery.

Today, this 30 ton obelisk stands waiting for everyone to see in Homestead, Florida, the final destination of what we all now call the Coral Castle. Florida has many areas where the coral runs several thousand feet thick, and is easily accessible buying just a few inches beneath the topsoil. Although many of Ed’s earlier creations seemed to have a domestic appearance, the Coral Castle is much more than the potential housing for a wife and children that he would never have. It’s astronomical precision seems to hold a clue to its true purpose and genius.

Although it has been said that no one ever saw Edward Leedskalnin working, there are several pictures that can be seen that show Ed at work apparently using enormous tripods with a black box attached to the top of them. Enormous pulleys seem to be aiding in the excavation of the Coral at the Homestead site. Unfortunately, researchers such as Christopher Dunn have shown that based upon the photographic evidence, and the primitive tools left behind which can be seen at the Coral Castle today, there is no way that this is the answer to the 1100 ton question.

At the Coral Castle, you will see amazing works of art that are made of coral. One of the most amazing creations is a 9 ton gate, popularized by Leonard Nimoy’s “In Search Of” show during the 1970s and 1980s. It was on this show that the iconic Mr. Spock was able to move this 18,000 ton piece of coral with his finger. This chunk of coral is not symmetrical, yet Leedskalnin was able to find the exact center. He drove the whole to the middle of this door perfectly balancing it so that a child could push it with almost no effort at all.

Therefore, despite his nearly fatal illness, Ed arose from the ashes of his previous life and created the amazing structure that tens of thousands of people visit each and every year. It is well worth taking the time to visit and admire this amazing coral structure created by one man’s devotion and love to a woman that did not love him.

Going against all odds, and coming back from a disease that almost killed him, Edward Leedskalnin has created one of the most amazing megalithic structures in the modern world. Although the Coral Castle is a tourist attraction today, just 30 miles south of Miami, is much more than a sideshow attraction. Ed Leedskalnin said that he knew the secrets of the pyramids. Sadly, Ed died with his secrets still in him but fortunately for all of us a legacy of his life is still available in South Florida today. If you are ever in the Miami area, check out the Coral Castle. You will be amazed and astounded by what one man, Edward Leedskalnin, was able to do.

Bicycling Washington State’s John Wayne Pioneer Trail

by Gregory E. Rouse

The John Wayne Pioneer Trail is located in Washington State and travels two-thirds of the way across the state. It offers a trail for all kinds of activities like hiking, bicycling and cross-country skiing.

The 100-mile portion from Cedar Falls (near North Bend) to the Columbia River near Vantage is managed as Iron Horse State Park.

Chicago-Milwaukee-St. Paul-Pacific Railroad abandoned this corridor and it was later turned into a trail in the 1980s when Washington State Parks acquired it. In the past, the Milwaukee Road was a vital trade link between Seattle and the Midwest. This article is about the trail between exit 38 East of North bend to exit 54 at Hyak on the Eastside of Snoqualmie Pass.

Some people call the trail the John Wayne Trail west of Snoqualmie Pass and the Iron Horse Trail east of Snoqualmie Pass, while others call the entire trail the Iron Horse Trail.

The trail is relatively smooth, but not paved and because of this along with its length, most people use it as a mountain bike trail. It’s an easy ride with spectacular views. On average, the trail is about half a mile from the highway and about 300 feet higher, so that the noise and exhaust fumes of the trucks on the highway are not bothersome.

If you look at a map there are two Exits 38: Exit 38 west and Exit 38 east, about two miles apart and connected by a side road. You can access the trail from either exit.

The river down below is called the Snoqualmie River. The trail itself is approximately 16.5 miles to Hyak and rises steadily from exit 38 to an elevation of approximately 2500 feet.

At the top, the trail enters Snoqualmie Tunnel (a 2-mile long tunnel). This is located at Snoqualmie Pass, the lowest point in these mountains to cross over. Because of the snowfall here the builders of the railroad decided to make a tunnel through the mountain at this point.

NOTE: The ride through the tunnel can be extremely DARK. At two miles in length, the far end is just a small pinpoint of light. Be sure to have a good light and where a jacket. The tunnel is very dark, wet and cool inside. As for the trail its self, the gravel path is level and smooth making for an easy ride. Also, the tunnel is usually closed from November 1 to May 1.

When you pass through the East end of the tunnel at Hyak, its time to return. The return to the car is all downhill making for a quick ride back (the whole trip is approximately 33 miles, round-trip).

Another option is to drop off a car at each end and then just ride one way or start at the East end of Snoqualmie Tunnel and ride downhill one-way.

For directions and current conditions check out the Washington State Parks website at http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Iron Horse

Travel on the Cheap

by Matthew Kepnes

Travel doesn’t have to be expensive. One reason that people avoid long term travel is because people assume it is expensive and believe they will never save enough for a trip. This is untrue. One of the greatest myths about travel is that it is only for the rich. There are many cheap ways for you to travel the world.

For most of us travel begins with an extensive hunt for cheap and discounted international flights to get you to your holiday destination. Once you’ve reached your destination, you can then book low cost regional airlines within the country or region. Using these airlines can save you a lot of money. Most of them are more than half the cost of a normal airlines. You won’t get any perks, just a sit on the plane but they can cut your travel budget down a lot.

One of the best ways to get free accommodation is to stay with someone who lives where youre going via Couchsurfing. Couchsurfing connects travelers with people in various locations who offer a free place to sleep. Sometimes its a bed, sometimes its a couch, sometimes its literally just space. You get to meet a new friend and get a local perspective on local places and activities. Its a good way to mix up your travels between meeting people in hotels and meeting the locals.

Another great way is to eat like a local. Avoid fancy restaurants and buy food in markets. Markets offer a great variety of food and a chance to eat local foods that are seasonal. They are very cheap and you can make a delicious sandwich for a picnic in a park. Moreover, try to stick to the small neighborhoods restaurants in the area. You’ll find a lot of local characters there.

Train travel, far cheaper than air travel though, is also a thrilling experience, a one of a kind opportunity to watch the country side cruising by like slices of life in motion. Single train journeys are invariably more expensive than train passes, however they still do a seamless job of making train travel a reality. Distant towns and villages can be accessed very often by buses that are an excellent and cheap substitute to other forms of public transport.

There are many ways to travel around the world cheaply. It simply requires good planning and budgeting. Not all tips work and each area and you need to be versatile and flexible. If you use these tips where they best apply, you will maximize the use of your money and save a lot so you can travel longer. Those like me who travel long term do it by good research and proper planning.

Deer Valley Utah Restaurants

by Robin Rutecki

The ski resorts in Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado have been competing over the last 20 years to create the perfect mountain vacation getaway. The ski vacation is no longer the same experience it was in the 1980s when lodgings of marginal quality were considered the norm.

The last ten years have brought continual expansion to the size of resort facilities, on mountain services, shopping, and dining. While there are many top quality ski destinations; Vail Resort in Vail, CO and Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT consistently fill the #1 and #2 spots as rated by Ski Magazine readers. Deer Valley Resort has taken the number one honors in 2001, 2005, 2007, and 2008.

To consistently hold the #1 spot in Ski Magazines survey, Deer Valley Resort focuses on its dining experience, on mountain services, and well manicured ski runs. Deer Valley is widely known to have the best food in the ski business but it does not just stop with lunch. The resort converts its opulent ski lodges into fine dining restaurants each night during the ski season. Each evening the staff redecorates with such skill you can hardly notice that you are dining in the same lodge you ate lunch earlier in the day.

Selections at Deer Valleys three fine dining restaurants include continental and European fare at Mariposa, fresh seafood at the Seafood Buffet, and Swiss alpine selections at Fireside Dining. Mariposa consistently receives top reviews with the Seafood Buffet and Fireside Dining not far behind.

The town of Park City Utah has followed suit by increasing the number of luxury accommodations, fine dining, and shopping options. The expansion over the last 10 years has been very dramatic with literally hundreds of new luxury lodging options gradually replacing the more traditional ski vacation accommodations.

As a result of the recent transition towards a more discerning palate, area restaurants have responded by introducing a rich dining experience worthy of top honors. Distinguished rating agencies such as the Michelin Travel Guide, Mobile Travel Guide, and Zagat Restaurant Guide have awarded Deer Valley area restaurants with their highest ratings.

My favorite is the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant because of its timeless Austrian decor and the delicious cheese fondue appetizer. The Goldener Hirsch Restaurant is located in the Goldener Hirsch Inn situated in the Silver Lake Village area of Deer Valley. The Glitretind Restaurant is another highly rated option which is located in the world famous Stein Ericksen Lodge.

No matter what your personal preference, Deer Valley Resort certainly lives up to its reputation as a top ski destination in North America. There are now many unique dining options to compliment the fabulous skiing and scenery. Its definitely worth a closer look.

If you are a traveler then finding for cheap Disney World vacation packages is definitely your main goal in searching for ways in going to that world-renowned park at a cheaper rate.

Fortunately, a lot of travel agencies have provided different packages exclusively for those who want to feel the Disneyland experience. However, cost effective fees and packages going to Disneyland entails extensive research.

Also, you need to identify how much you are willing to spend; this means stretching your financial budget for the whole trip. Being in Disneyland would really require you to spent a great deal of money.

One way of doing this is through proper analysis of the total cost of cheap Disney vacation packages. This mainly comprise of food allowances, lodging and a pocket money for shopping souvenirs and other unexpected expenses.

Another good way to find cheap Disney world package deals is to go online. Many online travel sites will often have promotions from time and time and some of the Disney vacation packages are actually a lot cheaper than what you can bargain for in travel agencies.

Formulating a good plan prior to your trip is necessary. This means figuring out which attractions you want to visit before your trip and determine the cost as well. Most online travel sites provides an overview of the various attractions and the entrance fees.

Going off-season is a lot cheaper and economical compared to peak seasons. Therefore, I highly recommend going during off season peaks if possible.
